Demons

Standard

Gazing into the open gate of hell

the literal abyss of hades

With its jagged canines from the ground clenched in meeting

of the stalactites trickling down an acidic saliva

in motion to bite with the deadliest mastication

The acrid stench invading the lungs with every stagnant breath

lingering close to penetrate nostrils

Trying to suffocate the mind into action, panic

Time is endless and doesn’t exist

bearing the illusion of importance in the insignificant

The mouth is hungry for raw flesh

In want of emotion and the destruction of the feelings created

beyond the questions of meaning or individual interpretations

A cavern of retreat for the cheapest of souls

Blocking out all light with an overwhelming sense of dread

No fire ablaze to guide the wanderers, lost and searching for

an escape within the darkness

Desperately feeling their way into the arms of death

People of the night losing identity within the numbing embrace

Forgetting right and wrong, or anything related to the living; breathing

Echoes whisper from beyond the cimmerian haunt

Tempestuous cries, tempting the abandoned to desert

the rationality of being alone

Wrapped inside my arms, I hide

Every tear falling as a single goodbye for the creatures

marching towards the end of all ends

A loner of thoughts, capturing the last emotional responses of those that past;

I have become a watcher of demons

Favorite First Memory

Standard

A night of music and dancing for all
of us, grouped together and lit up like
a neon troop of fireflies
The full moon lounging overhead
Convincing the crowd below to stay alive
Tempting the masses to escape reality and

tackling the human desire of living in the moment
As if united on cue, there you were
And then, we were, two silhouettes hiding from the

nosy celestial watcher of the dark sky
You were lying on your back, hands folded behind your head
With me, resting together on the bare tent floor
I sat up, almost overwhelmed by the intensity of

the simplicity in the moment
and how perfect it was
As I fiddled with my excuses to catch my breath, I froze
Suspended into a slow reel of the scene of the

man in front of me with

his eyes closed
In the shadows of our retreat I could see that you were smiling
Time stood still, as did any other thought to think, other than

the musings of you and the

feelings of now
You were a face of happiness in its perfection
I wanted it, to feel it, in every sense of the word
Even you, unaware as I continued to stare; greedy eyes

tracing the outlines of all of the

features to remember

Never guessing that this meeting would not be

our only time together, as I
Focused on another long enough for

my layers of barriers to falter
I laid down, unable to remain distant as an abstract of you; willing to
risk vulnerabilities and give into the pleasure ignited

by the connection of your touch
Hypnotized, I caressed your lips with my own imitation of them
Exploring a blending of minds unknown but of souls colliding
Two beings humbled by the moon still watching the

pair relating on the experience and on the passion
Offering them one night of chances to begin something new…

Unicorn

Standard

photo (7)

Hair tangled within the breeze of the beating wind

Slamming into face before catching onto the wild curly strands

Eyes watering but lacking the emotion to cry

Because riding almost feels like flying, living

Closing eyes but gripping tighter

Balled up fists clutching leather reins, sweaty slick contentment

Faster we shoot forward, moving as one

Two souls pounding ground faster than the speed of sound

Confusing each heartbeat for the pace of the unicorn

Blonde mare with pale green eyes

Braided hair like rider, waving back in escape

Running forward, not away, and laughing at the dust cloud behind

Cycles

Standard

Father change opened his mouth

to let out a calming hum to float throughout

Everyone and anyone

Connecting on the individual vibrations of attention

The trees, being more perceptible

to these kind of things,

Offered up their only response:

Each leaf changing color, as its

only defense mechanism,

or sacrificing last strength to be remembered

Bravely portraying its magnificence

and the understanding in showing

the wonderful beauty of wisdom

Coming to terms with it, just as the lesson

has been learned;

against dying

The winter howls will soon begin

to loosen their lungs

Big grumbling gusts of power

to rip each leaf from limb

Leaving the trees barren

and the ground afire

Until the death of color

merges with the plain variety of the different

figures and shapes, an indescribable

brown color that encompasses variants in the shade

United again, first living but now in the great hereafter;

When existence means being only one

But then life will start over;

as it always seems to do

sprouts forming stronger from raging fires

As the sun begins to shine warmer
