Sunsweat – The Fancy Pears

Standard

Many of you know that I claim to be a writer, whatever that really means, but what some of my WordPress friends might not know is that I also like to sing and play guitar/mandolin!

My band The Fancy Pears has finally released our first song “Sunsweat.” I’m so excited to be able to share this with everyone. We’ve been working nonstop the last couple of months to make this happen and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I love these guys!

The time

Standard
The time

The time is near

To begin this life of leisure

Just kidding, I’m typically functioning

On four hours of sleep daily

Working through the sunlight to

Afford playing at night

Splitting self in half to

Continue the dream of this double life

The time has come and

Has given life to thoughts about

Fluttering butterflies that

Are dying to get out

From the pit of my stomach as

They fly towards my throat

Choking me senseless

On my anticipation and hope

I am grateful for The Fancy Pears lol we have our first major show tomorrow woo! ❤ http://www.thefancypears.com

Isn’t it funny

Standard

They say there is only

one life to live

Isn’t it funny how tragic

I can be

Says the stranger across

the kitchen table

Who says we can talk right before

we just shutdown

Isn’t it funny how we seem to

balance, but then not

Memories rip apart at reality

leaving seams shredded

Exposed and vulnerable to

misunderstanding

Voices shout out in their

big white bubbles

With their pretty meanings of added

text for emphasis

Everything colored for absolute

greatness, or whatever

It’s just one comic scene

after the next

With a writer on a mission

To kill, kill, kill

They say there is only

one life to live

Isn’t if funny how unattainable

that seems

I am grateful for this ❤

The Tower

Standard

Sitting in her bed with feet drawn up

It’s quiet save for the churning about down below

Her belly’s swollen, bottom skin touching upper thighs

The window is slightly open and yielding

Anthropomorphic moaning of ghostly cries

Transfixed in her study of the spire’s views

She’s mesmerized by the ebb and flow

The great beast itself waving up at the tower’s top to say hello

A braggart creature assuming power with every powerful surge

The force keeping hope balanced with its fierceness

Whispered prayers encircle the space

Her unheard pleas of hope for attention

Fireplace ablaze, the red coals burning through the night

Flickering as the wooden door creaks open

Louder still, as the hinges give way to the excitement

Open-eyes reveal a storm-sodden man hovering in the doorframe

Flaming tendrils reach out to illuminate the faces

Leaving shadows dancing as scattered splotchy shapes

The fiery glow throwing color as if from an artist’s brush

Heavy acrylic dripping to the floor in contentment

He finally returned home

I am grateful for music ❤

Minstrel of Grief

Standard

There’s a phantom in my closet singing hymns to me

A shrouded black creature that wills himself to be:

A human, a lover, a minstrel of grief

Surrounded by nothing but his lost memories

Is it time or life that he comes to seek?

I know I’m alright if I feel the cold breeze

Because feeling is living, whatever that means

Lessons to learn from the nameless beast

I am grateful for music ❤
